'What happens when you isolate a vehicle from its chaotic surroundings? Can it tell us something about the culture it comes from? About the person who uses it? Or about society itself?'

Photographer Martin Roemers traveled the world armed with a large white backdrop, a camera, and one simple question: "Would you pose with your vehicle for me?"

The result is an eye-opening collection of images that raises pressing questions about our current global society. "What about the environmental impact of our addiction to oil and engines?" but also: "Does your choice of vehicle express something about your identity?"

At the same time, Roemers' images almost instantly bring a smile to your face.

Homo mobilis is interspersed with behind-the-scenes shots that clearly reveal the scale and ambition of this project.
